Inspired by (ig) @mentalmoma evening

Well it seams I am having a very inspired evening of nail art….I have completed 2 nail art manis inspired by one person ….Tracie or as we know her on instagram @mentalmoma. …Tracie is a real inspiration to me as her nails are absolutely gorgeous, so long and well looked after. Her art work is stunning and she varies between different techniques and styles with plenty of varied and stunning manicures. Her pictures are always clear and well presented and she is never afraid to admit if something is difficult or a challenge to her. Always supportive of other artists whether they are new to nail art or old hands at it, and always happy to help with tips and advice. A real credit to the nail art community.

Belle Glamour Polish swatch and review

Today I am reviewing a brand new UK 5 free indie polish line called Belle Glamour. Due for release on the 24th of Jan 2014 with pre orders still available and being posted out regularly. Catriona it’s creator is always willing and quick to answer any questions and polishes are sent out quickly
I will be reviewing 2 of the 3 polishes from Belle Glamours City Collection. This is a 3 polish set of 10ml each and comes in it’s own plastic labelled box available from the 31st Jan 2014 for £11, single polishes will be for sale at £5.50.

I very much liked the idea with the collection comming in one box. A lovely personal touch L-R Silver lining, Skyline and Rich Man ……I will be showing you Silver Lining and Rich Man.

Silver Lining is as it says a stunning silver polish with an amazing shimmer and soft holo effect. Application was lovely with the flat brush so smooth to apply and although very sheer on the first coat it built up beautifully over 3 coats to give full easy coverage. Drying time was lovely and only had to wait 5 minutes or so for the 3rd coat to dry. A truly amazing polish that will either look stunning on its own or as a feature nail with another colour. Pictures show 3 coats over a clearbase coat with top coat taken in a light box.I can see myself wearing this quite a lot, it’s beautiful a real credit to Catriona and her Belle Glamour Polish line xxxx

Next is Rich Man a really hot red with the surprise of a very subtle glitter that shows and will catch your eye in certain lights.

Once again application was smooth and easy although the first coat was very sheer and deceptive of the colour as was more of a pinkish red but the true colour built up really well over 3 coats. A really sexy red that will look eye catching on its own or with a feature nail (Silver Lining would go beautifully) added. Drying time was once again lovely with 5-7 minutes for the 3rd coat. Pictures show 3 thin coats over a clear base with top coat.

I must commend Catriona on her beautiful bottle choice and brush. From the top of the lid to the bottom of the brush bristles is quite short but it makes for ease of application and the brush glides the polish on with precision which really does help to avoid your cuticles.
Overall beautifully presented polishes with amazing application, colour and drying time. A real amazing collection… Thank you Catriona and Belle Glamour Polish …..xxxx

Babyjanepolish polish swatch and review

I was very lucky get hold of 2 gorgeous polishes from Beth at Babyjanepolish …….
First today is Gold-e-Locks a beautiful gold shimmer polish that has a slight holographic effect to it….its quite a sheer polish but builds up nicely over 3 coats although there is still a VNL but this does not distract from its beauty. It is stunning enough to be eye catching but in a subtle way. Once again application was smooth and there was no streaking  …..picture below is taken in a light box 3 coats over clear base coat with top coat xxxx

Next is Surreal a beautiful blue packed with glitter and holo. A very highly pigmented polish with a matte rough textured finish but really comes into its own once a top coat is added as the glitter and holo really do show up amazingly. Shown in the picture is 2 coats over a clear base coat and application was absolutely perfect. If you have shorter nails you will deffinately get away with one coat. I had no nail staining on removal and only slight skin staining on rough skin that was easily removed with acetone.

A little bit about me and my nails

Well where shall I start….
Me….well i am 46 yrs young and live in the south of England, UK. I have 3 beautiful daughters, the youngest being 16 and the only one at home. I have been with my wonderful boyfriend Simon for 7 years who totally spoils me where polish and my nail art are concerned and can’t thank him enough for his support and love, and don’t work now as I look after him due to his back problems. I used to be a qualified nurse working in Orthopaedics, Intensive and Coronary Care, Care of the Elderly, Endoscopy and finally Spinal Injury Treatment and Rehabilitation.
I have my 16 yr old daughter Kennedy to blame for my nail polish addiction and love of nail art as it was she who got me into nail art about 7 months ago.  I am going to show you some of my nail art over the last 7 months and hope you enjoy looking and reading this. So without further ado…..

The above are some of my personal favourites the top left was the earliest as you can probably guess it was summer here in the UK and I was also doing a monthly nail art challenge in August….

Here are a few more that cover some of the summer and also Halloween and bonfire night with a couple of more recent and even an Xmas one lol I do try and vary my art but do often find a certain type of design I like to do so I change the colours to vary things a bit. …

Next up is Xmas designs and once again I was entering competitions on instagram as you can probably guess but with one of my swatch pictures of one of my Xmas presents at the bottom right xx

These last 3 are the most recent and i loved doing these esp the zebra print as it’s not something I have done for a while so it’s nice to redo and see the improvements I hopefully have made…

Luvpolish new UK indie line

Luvpolish is a recently released new 5 free UK indie polish line Lisa it’s creator has some wonderful polishes and I am honoured to have been able to review and swatch two of them here for you.

First today is Blossom and this certainly lives up to its name being delicate and soft. It’s is a sheer milky white base with fine red, blue and silver glitter and slightly larger holo hex. Application was smooth and easy with a great drying time and bottle style is lovely. Shown below in the picture I have put two thin coats over white on index and pinky and three thin coats on ring and middle fingers. The holo hex was hard to capture but can be seen showing up in the bottle. A beautiful polish for us girls. Shown below is in photo box

Next today is Syringa, a beautiful lilac packed with red and silver hex and the slightly larger size blue and silver glitter. One coat is very sheer but amazingly builds up to a gorgeous colour over three coats. Once again application and drying time were great. Pictures show three thin coats over a clear base. Babyjanepolish new indie line review

Babyjanepolish is a soon to be released new UK indie 5 free line. No definite release date as yet but will be very soon. At the present you can find Beth it’s creator on instagram @babyjanepolish so please check and follow for updates and news of her forthcoming lauch and to see more of these gorgeous creations.
First impression is the presentation and the gorgeous bow gives that special personal touch to these polishes on these 5 ml bottles.

First up today is Sugar Plum Fairy,  a gorgeous lilac filled with just the right amount of light blue, silver and pale pink glitter. The formula is great and the brush guides to polish on smoothly. Shown below is 3 thin coats over a clear base. This formula has now been adjusted to give a fuller coverage in less coats. Drying time was great so no long waits between coats.

Next is Ice Ice Baby and it certainly lives up to its name and gives a gorgeous wintery feel to your manicure esp when put over white. This glitter topper is filled with silver and blue glitter, dots and hex’s and larger holo hex. Application was easy and only a small amount of placement and fishing was required. Shown is 2 coats of Ice Ice Baby over white but 1 coat would be sufficient.  Once again application and drying time were perfect

Here we have Twinkle an amazing holo topper. Glides on smoothly and dries quickly.  Amazing coverage and really does sparkle. This is only 1 coat over various colours.

Next is a subtle duo chrome called Seeing Double a really eye catching girly pink with a gorgeous violet shift. Shown here is 3 thin coats over a clear base coat. Coverage builds up well and once again application and drying time were great

Last but by no means least is Snow Glow-B a glow in the dark topper. Holo and silver feature in this in the forms of glitter, dots, hex and flakes. Some placement and fishing required. Shown here over black and white polish, but really come into its glow form over white. Application and drying time were once again great. One coat over black and two over white in the picture shown

Very impressed with these first polishes and I really can’t wait for their release. Beth their creator is a lovely young ladies and I wish her all the best with this her dream come reality xxxx
