Day 8 of the Nail Art Challenge March on Instagram is Aztec

Ok …so today’s challenge for the Nail Art Challenge March on Instagram is Aztec….
Now this is something I have been wanting to try for ages but never ever got round to it, suprisingly as it may seem.
So off i went to looks on Instagram and Google looking at Aztec nail art to see if a particular design caught my eye, and even looked at Aztec designs themselves, but I couldn’t find one particular design that I really wanted to do.
So with that in mind I decided to just “go with the flow” as it were and see how things progressed and turned out.
I decided I wanted to use some of my La Femme neon colours in yellow,  green, pink and orange so started with a white base of Sinful Colors White on White to make the colours stand out, and then did each nail in a different colour. Once I had done that I then used a top coat before doing my nail art pattern with black acrylic paint as it makes mistakes easier to wipe off with a damp pad.
I did a slightly different design on each nail and am pretty happy with how my first attempt at Aztec nails came out.
Picture was taken in my light box.

April is Paint it Blue for Autism Awareness

image

April is Worldwide Autism Awareness Month and the nail community all joins together to Paint it Blue by painting our nails blue or even doing a monthly challenge based on Autism. This act of unity promotes understanding, knowledge and awareness of this disorder that is very misunderstood by many people purely due to the fact that they know nothing about it.

Autism is very close to mine and my families hearts, as our granddaughter, Bella, who will be 3 in April, suffers with Autism. Now she is getting the correct help she is progressing and is starting to develope much better. But she will always be a very special girl, especially to us, her family ♡♡♡

What is Autism ? I hear you say !
Autism is a very complex disorder so I will keep to the basics.

The information below was taken from http://autism.org.uk website

About autism

More than 1 out of every 100 people has autism

You cannot always tell that someone has autism just by looking at them. Because of this autism is sometimes called a hidden disability.

Autism lasts for all of a person’s life. But they can still do a lot of things and learn a lot of skills.

Some people with autism find these things difficult

They find it difficult to tell people what they need, and how they feel.
They find it difficult to meet other people and to make new friends.
They find it difficult to understand what other people think, and how they feel.

Not everyone with autism will find these things difficult. This is because everyone with autism is different.

What causes autism ?

No one knows why people have autism.

If your child has autism, it is not because you are a bad parent.

More than 1 person in a family may have autism. It can be genetic. This means autism can pass from parents to their children.

Day 7 of the Nail Art Challenge March on Instagram is Cherry

Well today’s challenge was Cherry so although i wanted to do something really different and unusual i was feeling totally uninspired despite looking at lots of designs. So i decided to go with something simple as i find that is what works for me and them gets my inspiration going again. We all have off days and this was mine..

image

Colours used were
Red … illamasqua Throb
White …Sinful Colors White on White
Acrylic pain for stems and leaves.
Suprisingly I was quite happy with how they turned out. I really don’t know why I have never used red and white together before as I love the combination.
Right that’s me all done for now but I will be back soon

Colours used were
Base colour of Sinful Colors White on White with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella.

Review and Swatches of Nail Honey “A Honey Coated Rainbow ” Collection. ..

I was very supprised and honoured to be approached by Bee,  the creator of Nail Honey Custom Lacquers, to swatch for her amazing 5 free Indie line. Her spring collection, of 6 beautiful coloured polishes, ” A Honey Coated Rainbow” arrived quickly and safely and i couldn’t wait to try them and loved the personal touch and the little extras that were included. Below is what was in my swatch package.

image

Mojito is an amazing green with a lovely shimmer that really catches the eye in certain light. It surprisingly suited my skin tone and looked stunning. Application was 2 coats with topcoat no base coat. Perfect application and no staining on removal. Drying time was perfect. Picture taken in a light box. A gorgeous green that will go with virtually any skin tone.

image

Ocean Slide is an amazing mid toned blue with a subtle shimmer. Only 2 coats were needed with top coat no base coat. Great application and drying time between coats and no staining on removal, as is so often the case with blue polishes. A very eye catching polish that is gorgeous just as it is. Picture below is taken in a light box.

image

Purple Blaze is a gorgeous mid toned purple again with a lovely shimmer. I used 3 coats as slightly more sheer, with top coat and no base coat. Once again application and drying time were perfect. No staining on removal. A truly unique purple to add to any polish collection. Picture taken in a light box.

image

Next is Pinkin a really beautiful pink. A bright almost neon in colour and is certainly gorgeous. Slight subtle shimmer that enhances the colour perfectly. Once again only 2 coats with top coat and no base coat. Perfect application once again. No staining on removal. Picture below taken in a light box.

image

Blazin is an amazing burnt orange colour and this really shows the shimmer beautifully. Only 2 coats with top coat and no undies. Looks absolutely gorgeous on your nails. No staining on removal. Picture below was taken outside in some rare British sunshine.

image

Sunshine in a Bottle is one of the best toned yellows I have come across and once again shows the shimmer beautifully. Suprisingly only 2 coats were needed for full coverage with top coat and no base coat. Easy removal with no staining. Stunning. Picture taken in natural sunlight.

image

This amazing collection really is worth taking the time to buy. I was really supprised that all of them suited my skin tone as I wasn’t sure they all would. Presentation is gorgeous I love the bottles and the coordinating colour gem on the top. I do love little personal touches like that. Application with the brush was perfect and the consistency of the polish is perfect as is the drying time. Enough time to get the polish on how you want before it starts drying and drys quickly enough to be ready for your next coat after 5 mins. I was supprised on removal that I didn’t have any staining on my nails which is always a bonus as they are quite pigmented polishes. So perfect all round.

An amazing worth while collection to own. Great for not only Spring but Summer too. I can see these being used a lot by myself as I adore them.

Gradient to Animal Print

Decided to do a simple gradient using 3 sinful color polishes. Lightest being Easy Going, then Coral Island and the darkest being Thimbleberry. …
I painted 2 coats of the middle toned colour Coral Island and then sponged all 3 colours for the gradient and added a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust to help blend the gradient
This is how it turned out ….

image

As you are aware it is really hard to leave a simple but effective design alone on nails…..well i it deffinately is for me…..I didn’t want to do a black design as my boyfriend said I do to many like that lol ….so decided to go with a different colour …I love doing animal prints like zebra and leopard,  so I did both and added a few dots….The nail art and dots are done in acrylic paint ….
Here is the end result xxxx

Day 5 of the Nail Art Challenge March on instagram

Ok today’s challenge was St Patrick’s Day. ….This is a worlwide celebration of Irish culture on behalf of their Saint Patrick …
Well know Irish things for this day are 3 and 4 leaf clovers , the Irish flag, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold with usually a main colour of green….
I decided to have another go at watermarbeling using green, black and a sheer shimmery orange polishes….I added some 4 leaf clovers as they are ment to be lucky, and some dots to the watermarble on my middle and ring finger but wish I had left them off….
And here is the result
